Before living in San Diego, Mr. Herrick spent the majority of his life living in Newberg, Oregon. He attended Willamette University in Salem, OR where he majored in Civic Communication and Media and minored in history. While at Willamette, Carson competed in cross country and track and field all four years. Upon graduation he spent the following year in Eugene, OR, working towards his Masters of Education at the University of Oregon.

Carson couldn’t be more excited to join the JCS family! He believes Mountain Oaks has captured and continues to strive for the possibilities of what education can look like. He’s looking forward to continuing his practice of being a lifelong learner while fostering and encouraging those practices in Mountain Oak’s scholars.

Outside of teaching, Carson loves taking advantage of everything San Diego has to offer. You can frequently find him playing basketball and pickleball, or exploring trails and parks around the area with his dog, Luna.
