Sarah Kaenel grew up in Des Moines, Iowa but left to attend the University of Kansas (go Jayhawks!) in Lawrence, Kansas. She graduated with a BGS in Human Development and Family Life. Sarah did a short stint in Phoenix, AZ while her sister was attending culinary school and she was a preschool teacher. She then realized that being the guinea pig for all of her sister’s culinary treats probably was not doing her any favors, so she packed up and did a 2 month solo road trip up and down the coast of California. She eventually landed in Cardiff and got a job working at the District Attorney’s office in the child support unit where she headed up one of the locate teams. It was during her commute to the office downtown that she met her then husband. After marriage and several years at the District Attorney’s office, she decided that apparel was more her speed. She started a children’s clothing line called SNAP (Sarah, Nell, and Peggy) with her mom and friend. They had a successful run of making collegiate wear for infants and toddlers and were licensed by some awesome schools. After a couple of years it was time to either “go big or go home” so they closed up shop.
Sarah lives in La Costa with her two children and a cat that her kids made her get. They travel as much as they can and love to head back to the midwest, mountains, and Glasgow, Scotland, where their best friends live. Sarah enjoys music, reading, sitting outside enjoying the air and can be found at the beach, at concerts, or up in the mountains. This is her third year at PLC and she is so happy to return and work with all of the amazing students and staff.
