Derek Wiback, embarking on his 5th year with the JCS, holds a BA in International Business from San Diego State University and a Special Education credential from Cal State San Marcos. He is trained in the Orton Gillingham method of multisensory teaching which helps struggling students learn to read. Derek is also experienced with spelling for communication, and employs strategies that include functional fitness into some students’ curricula. Mr. Wiback has a business background in the cycling industry, and loves to play soccer and swing dance. He’s married to his college sweetheart and has two college aged daughters.
